A DECADE OF BLUE

Blue Microphones Celebrates 10th Anniversary

AES, NYC, October 7th, 2005 – The founding principal behind the establishment of Blue was simple: raise the bar
for excellence and innovation in the field of microphone design and technology. Starting with a single microphone
in 1995, Blue has grown into a family of precision recording tools, each with their own unique sound signature, for
virtually any application.

Blues in the Night
Blue was founded in 1995 by Skipper Wise, an accomplished musician and producer and Martins Saulespurens’, a technical
audio and electronics engineer creating a synergy of style and substance that is uniquely Blue. Assembled at night over a
kitchen table, the first Blue mics were used by a small circle of musicians, engineers and other audio industry veterans, all
tough critics who raved about the new mics’ sound and quality. Blue then began small-scale manufacturing in Martins’
home country of Latvia, and as new mics were introduced and sales increased, the company opened a small office in
Southern California. Today, Blue has a state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Riga, Latvia, and in Westlake Village,
California, complete with an industry-standard clean room for capsule assembly and a custom-built training and recording
studio where all Blue products are put through their paces.

“Music is about finding your voice,” states Wise. “When you hear Dylan sing, you instantly know its Dylan, when you hear
the Beatles play, you just know it’s the Beatles. We strive to incorporate this concept into our products and give each mic
with a unique sonic signature.”

Step up to the Mic
All Blue products begin with the needs of the recording artist in mind, often in the form of feedback directly from users and
design inspiration comes from many sources: from music and the arts to elements of nature and science — even elements
of pop culture filter in. After a long process of sketches, schematics, plans and prototypes, each mic goes through an
exhaustive series of tests, revisions and more tests until it finally arrives at its ideal sound. All Blue microphones are
machined and assembled by hand in the United States and Latvia with the highest quality parts and materials available. The
end result is an object not only of great beauty, but also one of the finest engineered and sonically pure recording tools
available anywhere, built to last a lifetime.

“Blue mics look and sound different because they are different,” adds Wise. “Our patented designs and circuitry are
recognized as being on the leading edge of current microphone theory and technology from our top-of-the-line Bottle mic to
the budget-minded Ball series.”

Blue Online
Blue has an all-encompassing online presence at www.bluemic.com. Virtually anything and everything Blue can be found
here, from detailed overviews and specs on each Blue product to downloadable manuals, reviews, news, user forums and a
dealer locator.

kHz PhD
2006 will see the arrival of Blue University, the latest in Blue’s ongoing commitment to sharing information about
microphone usage, as well as recording techniques and theory. Initially launched as a classroom-oriented online tutorial on
Blue’s website, Blue U will eventually be hosted as a live in-store experience held at various authorized Blue retailers around
the US and Canada. Users will receive actual “hands-on” training and learn the latest recording techniques from Blue’s in-
house training experts.

The Wild Blue Yonder
Blue has just released a series of new products including the Snowball, a revolutionary plug ‘n play USB mic, the Cardinal
and Raven microphones, developed jointly with audio legend Electro-Voice, and the TypeB Microphone, designed for sister
company, Red Microphones. In addition, the company is introducing a new product as the AES show, the OmniMouse, a
version of their popular Mouse microphone with an omni-directional capsule.

Blue products are sold and distributed in the US directly by Blue through a network of authorized dealers, in Japan by
Digidesign, and around the world by Telex, Inc.
